In Lacco Ameno, on a hillside with sea views, the Michelangelo Family & Spa Resort (also known as Park Hotel Terme Michelangelo) combines an in-house thermal department accredited with the Italian health service (ASL), a beauty farm, thermal pools and a large park with a Mini Club and Mikyland for children. Free shuttle to the beach and the centre of Lacco Ameno, about a kilometre away: thermal spa and family holiday in one hotel.
It is one of the hotels on Ischia that truly combine thermal spa and family holiday. On the thermal side there is an in-house department accredited with the Italian health service (ASL): with a referral from your family doctor you can take a course of mud-balneotherapy and inhalation treatments (inhalations and aerosol), paying only the ticket at the hotel. The beauty farm offers regenerating, anti-stress, beauty and slimming treatments with staff trained by Guinot / Mary Cohr, and the wellness circuit with sauna, Turkish bath, emotional showers, Kneipp path, thermal hydromassage, cervical waterfalls and geyser bench is free for guests. A relaxation room with chromotherapy, a holistic room and a small Technogym gym complete the offer.
The pools are the heart of the day: indoor and outdoor thermal pools, hydromassage and a freshwater pool just for children, with water slides, surrounded by a garden of pines, olive trees and Mediterranean plants. For the little ones there is the Mini & Junior Club with entertainment every day all year round, the 400 square metre Miky Club playroom and the Mikyland playground with inflatables, carousels and play areas, plus a new sports area for five-a-side football, volleyball and tennis. The Mikyland playground is free, while the Mini & Junior Club requires the Miky Club card, compulsory from 3 to 12 years (15 euros per day). A private babysitter is also available on request, for a fee.
The rooms come in several types: Standard and Superior (the latter recently renovated) with a window or balcony, garden or sea view, then double-room Junior Suites (the terrace version has a shower with built-in Turkish steam bath) and four dedicated Suites: Grand Suite Carmen, Wellness Suite Claudia, Bellevue Suite Irene and Angel Suite Brigida. The rooms have individually controlled air conditioning and heating, free Wi-Fi, satellite TV with Sky, minibar and safe.
At the table you will find Mediterranean cuisine made with local produce, served in two restaurants, one air-conditioned indoors and one by the pool, with two bars and a piano bar with live music every evening. Private parking is free, laundry and babysitting are charged extra, and pets are accepted for a supplement (they cannot enter the restaurant, spa, pools or beach).
The Michelangelo works well for families with children of all ages, for guests who want to take their ASL-covered thermal treatments without leaving the hotel, and for couples looking for wellness and relaxation with the sea a few minutes away. One thing to know before booking: the property is built on terraces and has no lift, with stairs to reach departments and rooms, so guests with mobility difficulties should mention it in their request so we can choose the most convenient room. If you are looking for a hotel right in the centre, with shops and bars a step away, a property in the village will suit you better: here the centre is reached by shuttle.
