Barano d'Ischia is the town on the south-eastern side: it includes the Maronti beach and the natural thermal springs of Nitrodi.
Barano d'Ischia is a municipality on the island's south-eastern side, spread across hillside hamlets such as Buonopane and Testaccio. Its territory is home to Maronti beach, Ischia's longest, and the natural springs of Nitrodi.
Maronti is the main beach: over two kilometres of sand with free stretches, equipped areas and warm spots near the fumaroles. San Pancrazio is a more secluded cove.
Barano is reached from Ischia Porto by bus or car in about 20-25 minutes. Maronti is reached via the road to Testaccio, or by sea with water taxis from Sant'Angelo.
Suited to those seeking long beaches, natural springs and a less touristy hillside hinterland.
