Sorgenti di Nitrodi

Water flowing from the rock for over two thousand years, in a green valley dedicated since Roman times to the god of healing.

Overview

Hidden in a small valley near Barano d'Ischia, the Nitrodi Springs flow from a wall of tuff rock amid lush vegetation. The site was already known and venerated in Roman times, as shown by the votive bas-reliefs dedicated to Apollo and the Nymphs of Nitrodi, found on site and now kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN). The water, at around 28°C, is rich in skin-purifying properties.
