Serrara Fontana is the town on Ischia's southern side: it includes the fishing village of Sant'Angelo and part of Mount Epomeo, the island's summit.
Serrara Fontana is a municipality on Ischia's southern side, spread between the coast and the mountainous interior. On the sea it includes the pedestrian village of Sant'Angelo; inland it rises up to the slopes of Mount Epomeo, the island's highest point.
Maronti beach, one of the island's longest, stretches out below Sant'Angelo. Sant'Angelo's small coves can be reached on foot or by water taxi.
Serrara Fontana is reached by bus or car from Ischia Porto in about 40 minutes. Sant'Angelo is pedestrian only: the last stretch is on foot from the Succhivo car parks.
Suited to those seeking a quiet seaside village and to hikers heading up Epomeo, away from the more touristy areas.
